From Chicago, Dever (spelled "Devers" in some places) was a skilled guard in around the Windy City in the 1920's, and had also been a drawing card with his clownish antics (think of Nick Altrock of Max Patkin in the world of baseball.)
Not much else to be found about him. I am kind of entertaining the notion his last name may actually be "Devereaux or "Devereux"
