Miller was a baseball player foremost, starting his minor league career with Waterloo in Class D. He made the major leagues with the Phillies in 1921, playing for them for parts of two seasons. He would also play for the Senators in 1924 when they won the World Series. He played a lot of pro basketball during this time, asnd would play six seasons in the ABL, mainly with the Fort Wayne Caseys.
He died in 1939 following an operation to remove his appendix. He had been critically ill for a week before passing.
