Kerr was a very talented and popular player in the East, and was a skilled defender known for his physical play. He was a frequent teammate of George Deighan, and the two of them were known for their intimidating size and bulk. Kerr eventually found his way the Cleveland Rosenblums and an ABL championship. He would later take over the job as head coach there, leading the team to two more ABL championships in 1928-29 and 1929-30.
