Ted went to Oregon, where he was a member of their legendary "Tall Firs" team that won the NCAA title. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War 2. Ted played briefly for the Portland Indians before embarking on a long career in education.
Ted married Clara Achord in 1941.
