Born to Henry and Juanita Chamberlin, Hank attended Bellingham HS and then Western Washington College of Education before World War 2 interrupted, with Chamberlin entering the U.S. Army. He was a Master Sergeant under General Patton. After the war, he worked at Sears and Roebuck for 28 years before managing a bookstore. He joined the Bellingham Firecrests around December 11, 1947. He was also a basketball referee around Whatcom County.
Hank married Betty in 1942 and they had two children.
