In February of 1947, he was declared ineligible and removed from the Iowa squad. He signed with the Ironmen in the BAA a few days later and played the rest of the season with them.
In April of 1947, Jorgensen was critically injured in a car accident in Iowa, be recovered to play another seven season professionally. He was named as a plaintiff in a lawsuit for the accident, filed by the families of two passengers injured in the accident.
Jorgensen died of an aortic aneurysm in 1982.
His father, Charles, was a trainer for the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team. His brother Roger was his teammate with the Ironmen.
