Played briefly for Indianapolis before joining the army to serve in World War 2. After the war, he worked for Southside Butchers in Indianapolis, as later owned the Barrington Lounge and Reiswerg's Kosher Meat Market in the Broad Ripple area of Indianapolis, from which he retired in 1994.
He married Sadie Tobias (1917-2011) and they had two sons, Max and Joseph (1948-2010). His grandson Matt played basketball in the PanAm Games in 2004.
