Jagnow missed part of his freshman season due to academic issues, and part of his sophomore season due to a leg injury that occurred playing baseball. He also missed a large part of his senior year at Carnegie in 1933-34 due to academic issues, but somehow was back on the team as a senior in the 1935-36 season.
He married Marjorie (1915-2000) and they had a daughter, Judith Ann Anema, and a son, L. Kent Jagnow.
