Synnott had a long career of professional basketball, playing in the ABL for many years as well as the Original Celtics. He moved on to play three seasons in the NBL.

Synnott may have played minor league baseball, too. There is a Robert Synnott who played for Cumberland in the Mid Atlantic League in 1931 and 1932.

  1. You are correct with the baseball stats. He was a pitcher in high school.

  2. Bob Synnott was my uncle. As a baseball player, he was the MVP of NY City High Schools in 1930, and signed with the NY Yankees, playing with the Cumberland (Md.) Colts (Class C) in 1931-1932 (see your note above). I believe he was promoted to Erie (Class B) for 1933, but hurt his arm, and had to give up pitching.
His elder brother, John Synnott, was a Yankee farmhand in 1929 & 1930, playing outfield for the Class D Norfolk (Nebr.) Elkhorns in the Nebraska State League.
In Bob Synnott's later years, he was involved with horse-racing management, particularly at East Coast and Florida tracks and the county-fair circuits.
