After starring on the court at Olympia HS, Beck would play at Montana State University before returning to Olympia after World War 2. Beck joined the Salem Trailblazers of the Pacific Coast League around February 5, 1947. An avid bowler and golfer, he later worked as a purchasing supervisor for the North Thurston School District.
