Dorsey played at UW before playing with the Savages, who went on to play in the AAU tournament. Dorsey served in the U.S.M.C. during World War 2. He returned from the war and played with the Ramblers for their one season of existence. He taught high school, was a hospital administrator and also owned a heating and cooling company, retiring in 1989.
He married Helen Foster (d. 1989) in 1946 and they had two sons and one daughter.
