AMERICAN BASKETBALL LEAGUE (II)
15-7 .682
The Capitols were once an NBA franchise, and in their debut season in 1946-47, they won the BAA regular season title before losing in the semi-finals. Two years later, they lost to the Minneapolis Lakers in the BAA finals. When the BAA merged with the NBL in 1949-50, the Caps saw their record slide. In the next season, they team didn't even make it through January, folding in January 9, 1951. The ownership decided to revamp the club for the 1951-52 seasons and join the smaller ABL. The Caps played great, running out to a 10-3 start. However, financially, the club didn't draw well and once again chose January to call it quits, despite handily being in second place. This time, the Capitols would not resurface.
