A high school basketball star at Fell Township High, Kitik joined the Carbondale Aces of the ABL and played before the club disbanded. Kitik joined the United States Air Force shortly after that, serving in the Korean Conflict. After leaving the service, Kitik played basketball sparingly around the Scranton / Wilkes-Barre area while working as a welder.

Kitik drowned in Lackawanna River in 1979. He had been missing a few days and his death was determined to be accidental. He was 47 years old and left behind two daughters.

ReplyDeleteAnyway, I thought you'd be curious to hear that a Nick Kitic played 3 games with the EBL Barons of 1958-59. A good 8 years after the Carbondale appearance, but a likely match.
Your comments lead me to confirm that the Nick Kitik was the player I originally suspected it to be. Thank you for the tip! It also lead me to identify another Carbondale player, too
