A native of Newton Falls, Ohio, Walton went to East Union High School where he was a basketball star. He served three years in the army. He caught on with the House of David team, and played a few season with the Packers. He took a job with Fox Construction Company in 1949, and in December of 1952, he was killed on a construction site when a tree being uprooted by a bulldozer fell on him. He was only 26. He left behind a wife, Freda, and a young daughter.
