Pryor served in the Navy during World War and then finished up at DePaul. After playing basketball professionally for a few years, he became a salesman for a liquor distributor in the Chicago area.
He married MaryJo Cole (1931-2009) in 1949 and they had four children.
Some other sources say he was born in 1923 or 1925, but 1926 is in his obituary, gravestone, and in military records.
