Born in Aurora, Minnesota, to Emil and Eleanor Maki. He played a season with Sheboygan before enlisting in the U.S. Army. He died in 1974 after a lengthy illness.
He married Roberta Schulz (1919-2007) and they had at least one son, Paul (1946-2000).

I think his middle name is Edward, but not positive.
