Babe grew up in Chicago, attending Notre Dame and playing one year there. He played pro basketball for Sheboygan, with an interruption on account of World War 2. Ziegenhown died at 51 in 1970.
He married Mary Suscha (1918-1998).

Chicago Tribune article from 1942 calls him "Henry Ziegenenhorn."
