Born to Maurice and Nora Boyle in New Jersey, Boyle grew up in Hazleton and went to school at Temple. He would go on to play seven seasons in the ABL. Boyle worked for many years at General Tire, retiring as a sales executive in 1980.

Eddie married Constance Knott (1916-2003) in 1938 and they had two daughters.
