Jones played basketball, football and baseball at UK, and was the first Wildcat to have his number retired. After playing for three seasons for Indianapolis, Jones became a sheriff and ran unsuccessfully for congress. He later started BlueGrass Tours, a company that chartered buses for tourists, and also the UK teams for games within driving distance.
He married Edna Ball and they had a son and two daughters.
