From Philadelphia, O'Connell had a lengthy career as a shortstop in the minor leagues, including being a player/manager in the 1950's. I cannot find much for him after 1955, when he was named manager for the Erie baseball club.
He served in the army during World War 2.
O'Connell married Anna Kramer (1928-2006) in 1950.
