Born to Peter and Mary Dolan, Pierre played some basketball with the Hudson teams and also played briefly in the ABL. He later worked as a a newspaper reporter and editor at the Hudson Register, as well as being involved in the local government of his New York hometown, Hudson.

He married Margaret Scheitlin (1906-1987) in 1928 and they had two sons, Leo and Pierre (1927-2000).
