The Chicago-area athlete played basketball, and afterwards worked as a referee and as a trainer of the NFL's Chicago Cardinals. In 1947, Dutch collapsed during a Cardinals game against the Green Bay Packers. He was bedridden until his death in 1950.
He and his wife, Emily, had one father.
