Born in Passaic to Anthony and Anna Babbles, Peter was the team captain at Passaic HS. He played one game for the Whirlwinds in the 1929-30 season. He served in the military during World War 2.

He married Elizabeth O'Dell (1911-1980) in 1928 and they had two sons and a daughter.
