Pastushok went to Hamilton HS in Brooklyn before transferring to Adams for his senior year. He enrolled at St. John's where he played before entering the U.S. Navy during World War 2. After the war, he played basketball professionally for a few season.

In 1991, Pastushok was arrested for shoplifting meat from Pathmark in New Jersey. He later moved to North Carolina, where he died in 2003.
