Born Anthony Kepezensky, Kappen played a lot of pro and semi-pro basketball out east. According to the Daily Eagle from April 16, 1936, he was supposed to attend St. John's, but near as I can tell, he never played basketball anywhere on the collegiate level.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War 2
