Urso lettered in basketball and golf at Duquesne. After graduating, he returned to Duquesne to be an assistant coach for the golf team. He took the head coach job for the Pittsburgh Raiders in 1944.
Some places say he also played at Pitt, but he does not appear as one of their letter winners.
He worked at Westinghouse until 1959, when he became an inventory controller at Mosler Safe in Hamilton, Ohio. He died of cancer in 1991.
He married Rose Lanz (1917-1996) on February 20, 1941. They had a daughter and three sons.
