Born in Luzerne County, Biasi played both football and basketball at Hazleton Township High School. He would go to work after graduating, but he enrolled at Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College) in 1938, where he pursued a teaching degree while playing both sports. After graduating, he was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the NFL, but went into the U.S. Army instead. After World War 2, he played a couple seasons with the Baltimore Bullets in the American Basketball League. He also began a long and successful career at Paterson Park High School in Baltimore as a teacher, football coach and basketball coach. As a football coach, he amassed an amazing record at Patterson Park, with winning streaks of 29 and 22 games and 8 state titles. As a basketball coach, he won four state titles. He was also an important figure in the integration of the state's athletic programs, welcoming black players to his teams with open arms.

Biasi died of penumonis in 2005.

Irv was married to Nelda Kalor.
