Born in Ware, Massachusetts, to Antony and Honorata Pajak, George was a talented baseball and basketball player in high school and at Georgetown. He served in the Coast Guard during World War 2, and played pro and semi-pro basketball for a few years in the late 40's. Pajak worked as a gauge inspector at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in Hartford, Connecticut, for many years.
His name sometimes appears in articles and box scores as "Paycheck."
He and his wife, Helen, had one son and one daughter.
