Perigo was born in Marion (or maybe Lebanon), Indiana, to Lon (1886-1958) and Neva Laham Perigo (1889-1955). He graduated from Delphi High School,
and attended Western Michigan University. He played professionally
basketball through the 1930's, including two years in the NBL. We wound
up being the head coach at his alma mater WMU, and then at the
University of Michigan. He died in 1990. He married Margaret E. Burrell (1913-1999) in 1934 and had two daughters, Pat Gonser and Beth Nagle, and a son, Don Perigo.
