Wright was born in Dayton, Ohio and attended Fairview High School. A skilled golfer as well as basketball player, he started working at Delco Moraine in 1943 and stayed there 31 years until retirement. He was married to Nelliemae Highfill (1919-1996) in 1940 and the pair had two daughters (Donna and Deborah) and a son (Robin). He died in 2005 after suffering from Alzheimer's Disease.

probasketballenclyclopedia has him as Loren Francis Wright (1912-1977) but I am fairly certain it is Loren James above.
