Born to Charles and Nellie Dutton in Syracuse, Dutton starred at Christian Brothers before enrolling at Georgetown. He started every game as a sophomore and lead the team in scoring. He was declared academically ineligible in January of his senior year, and signed with the Rosenblums in the ABL.
Dutton was a member of the inaugural class inducted into the Hoyas' Hall of Fame in 1958.
