Born to James and Anastasia McNichol, Daniel was a well-known athlete who played football, basketball and baseball at Penn. He would sometimes play exhibition games with his four brothers, Eddie, Jimmy, Johnny and Harry (not positive Harry was actually a brother, but he is in the McNichol Family line-up.) Eddie was the coach at Penn when Danny went there. He played some pro basketball after graduating, and also was an assistant coach back at Penn on the their basketball team. In 1927, McNichol signed with the Quakers, but in his only game, McNichol scored no points. He died of a heart attack in 1963.
He was married to Rita and had at least one son, Daniel Jr.
