1935-36 Buffalo Bisons (MBC)
Gallagher played some pro basketball for the Bisons in his home town of Buffalo, but he was a talented baseball player who signed with the Yankees in 1936. He climbed through the minor league to joining the parent club in 1939. In June of 1939 he was dealt to the St. Louis Brown, and a year later to the Brooklyn Dodgers.
Gallagher enlisted in the army in 1941 and served during World War 2. After the war, he returned to baseball, playing for Brooklyn's farm team in MOntreal where he was Jackie Robinson's roommate.
Joe married Josephine Cariker (1902-1983)
