Brannum served in the service during World War 2. He transferred from Kentucky after failing to make the varsity team, heading to Michigan State. He went on to play seven season of professional basketball. He went on to be a very successful coach, mainly at Brandeis.
Brannum died of pancreatic cancer in 2005.
Bob's twin brother Clarence was a teammate of his with the Sheboygan Redskins in 1950-51.
