A native of Newton Falls, Ohio, Walton went to East Union High School where he was a basketball star. He served three years in the army. He caught on with the House of David team, and played a few season with the Packers. He took a job with Fox Construction Company in 1949, and in December of 1952, he was killed on a construction site when a tree being uprooted by a bulldozer fell on him. He was only 26. He left behind a wife, Freda, and a young daughter.

Born in Fort Wayne to Murray and Alice Mendenhall, Bud played for the state champions at Central and enlisted into the U.S. Navy after graduating. He attended Rice while in the Navy, playing on their basketball team. Following his discharge from the service, he enrolled at Indiana. After one season with the Packers, coached by his father, he taught and coached at various high schools and was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in 1996.


He was married to Miriam and had two sons and a daughter.

Born in Tennessee to John and Sarah Crocker, Dillard's family moved to Niles, Michigan, when he was young. He lead Niles High School to the state basketball championship in 1943, and enlisted in the army after graduating. He enrolled at Western Michigan after the war, and after school, played professional basketball for five years. After his playing days, he owned and operated Crocker Sheet Metal Shop in Niles. I haven't found anything saying he actually played basketball at the collegiate level (Western Michigan or otherwise).

He married Dorothy Beck (d. 2002) on April 28, 1944. He and "Dot" had two sons and two daughters.

He married Verna Petersen (1929-2008) on June 5, 1954. They had one son and one daughter.

In April of 1952, Boag announced her was retiring from the pro game to coach at the high school level. He returned to the Pistons in the 1952-53 season to play a few games, but remained a coach and eventually AD after that. In 1961, he was hired by Warsaw HS as their head coach.
He married MaryEllen Robinson on February 10, 1944 and the had two sons and three daughters.

He moved with Anderson into the NBA following the disbanding on the NBL, where he joined with the Pistons. He played in the first NBA All-Star game, and in the off-season worked on his cattle ranch in Louisiana.

I think he is Russell Leroy Wilkin, born March 20, 1923, son of Eugene and Erma (Smeltzen) who married Jane Miller on February 27, 1943. Age is right, location is right. Don't see anyone else in the Fort Wayne area he could also be.

Served in the Marines during World War 2, enlisting two days before getting married.

Schultz was born to Leo and Minnie Schultz in St Paul, Minnesota. An avid baseball fan as a child, Schultz played baseball but picked up basketball in the 8th grade. After graduating from high school, he enrolled in Hamline. He played minor league baseball in the summer while attending Hamline where he was a star on the basketball team. He took a year off from college after his junior year to concentrate on his baseball career, which was flourishing. In 1943, the Brooklyn Dodgers purchased his contract and the first baseman began a six-year career in the National League. He returned to Hamline to resume his education, and played one more season of basketball. He joined up with the Anderson Packers in the NBL in 1946-47, and played basketball professionally for seven years.

Although he still played semi-pro baseball in the 50's, his athletic career was essentially over and he moved into teach and coaching in high school. He returned to Hamline to coach the basketball team for a few years before returning to high school. He retired in 1986.

He was married to Gloria and had two children.

Morey is better known as a golfer. He won three NCAA golf titles, and enjoyed a very long amateur golf career that got him named the Golf Digest Senior Golfer of the Year six times. He served in the military during World War 2.

Morey died in 2002 after a lengthy illness.

Komenich, at 6'7, was too tall to serve in the military, so he became a truck driver  to help in the war effort.

He was married to Juanita, who died in 1975. Komenich died a couple years later at 56 years of age.

Komenich's son, Kim, produced a documentary about the University of Wyoming NCAA champion team that Milo played on.

Gates starred at Sam Houston State and after, became the basketball coach at an undetermined high school in Huntsville. He moved up to Indiana and joined up with the Packers and the Pistons. He returned to Texas to play with Houston in the new PBLA, but the team folded after two games. He then returned to Anderson and joined the Packers, staying with them as they transitioned to the NBA. When the team was jettisoned after the 1949-50 season, he became the player / coach as they spent one season in the short-lived NPBL.

He was married to Mildred (born 1929) when he died in 1978.

Gardner was a basketball star at Sam Houston State. Not sure how those playing years work out. He did serve in the military during World War 2, so he likely had his eligibility reinstated like so many other player / soldiers did.
