Killick's education at Vermont was interrupted by service in World War 2. While in the USMC, he trained at Dartmouth in the V-12 program and played with the Dartmouth squad that played in the NCAA championship game. After the war, he returned to the University of Vermont. After graduating, Killick not only play for the Glen Falls Commodres in the New York State League but also was a part-owner. He would also play for the Schenectady Packers in 1949 before the team folded.
