Born to Clarence Leeka (1877-1921) and Ruth Mabel Sheey (1877-1912). In 1929, Leeka was dropped from the University of Iowa due to a violation where money was "loaned" to players by the school. He applied for reinstatement in spring of 1930.
In 1939, he was coaching high school football in Freeport, Texas. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War 2.
Leeka was married to Roberta Dawson (1912-1984).
