Playing college basketball at Pitt, Morrison also held jobs washing
dishes, parking cars, and carrying coal in the mines. He quit Pitt after
his junior year to play professionally for Warren, making $15 a game as
well as working at a plant. He also played semi-pro baseball in Warren.
He married Ruth Eckardt in 1938.
