A star baseball and basketball player in high school, Gorman was signed by the New York Giants after graduating. After winning 14 games for the Giant's class-D team in Blytheville, Arkansas in 1938, he was brought up to the Giants in 1939. He would pitch four games before being sent down again. He would start playing basketball semi-professionally before World War 2 intervened. After serving in the Army mainly in Northern Africa, he returned home and played basketball around the NorthEast. Playing in just one game (December 2, 1944) for the New York Westchesters of the American Basketball League, Gorman would suffer a quick mental lapse and put a defensive rebound into the Philadelphia SPHA's basket, thus giving him two point for the opposition. It was his only two points of the game, and he scored for the opposition.

It was suggested by a friend that he become an umpire for local baseball teams, and this began a very long and successful career on the baseball diamond. He would eventually ump minor league games before his contract was purchased by the Nartional League. He spent 25 years as an arbiter before retiring from the game in 1976.
Gorman and his wife, Margaret, had three sons and a daughter. Margaret died in 1968, and Gorman remarried in 1986 but was dead of a heart attack months later.

From Brooklyn, Schuckman graduated from Jefferson HS and was enrolled in LIU, but quickly transferred to St. John's when he saw what coach Buck Freeman has putting together there. The "Wonder Five," as the St. John's squad was called, became the first collegiate super-team, and as first-year players, the freshmen team went 18-4. (At this time, freshmen were not allowed to play on the varsity team at college.) In the three seasons that followed, the Wonder Five went 23-2, 24-1 and 21-1. Because of these team's greatness, basketball had found immense popularity in New York and the city would be the cultural center of the sport for decades to come.
After graduating in 1931, the St. John's team decided to stay together, and form their own pro unit, the Brooklyn Jewels. Eventually, the team would join the revamped ABL and would be a mainstay throughout the 1930's. As the team began to break apart, Schuckman, who would also turn in duty for many other teams concurrently, would find his way to Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. He was named head coach in December of 1938, finishing the season as player / coach. This duty carried through the beginning of the 1939-40 season for being relieved of duty and sent to the Clippers. By the end of 1940-41, Allie retired as a player, although he was coaxed back onto the court in 1944 with the New York Westchesters when the war depleted the talent pool. He served briefly in the military during the war prior to his time with the Westchesters.

NATIONAL BASKETBALL HALL OF FAME, 1964
Russell was a long time basketball player and then coach. Playing at some point in almost every league in the East, he found himself in the ABL with Cleveland in 1925, and in a couple years later after joining the Chicago Bruins, became the head coach as well as a player. Hopping to various outfits, he took the head coaching job at Seton Hall in 1936, and in the next few seasons would lead the school to prominence, including a record 41-game winning streak in 1941. The school disbanded its athletic program during World War 2, and Russell became the first coach of the Boston Celtics in the new BAA. He returned to Seton Hall when the school brought the program back, and he stayed there until 1960. He would work for many years as a baseball scout, finding players like Joe Torre.
Honey was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1964, and died following a short illness in 1973.
He and his wife, Charlotte, had two daughters and one son.

1976-77 Elk Lake High School - Pennsylvania (High School) - Head coach
Wallace went to college at Keystone JC for two years before heading to the University of Scranton to finish. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War 2 and returned to the pro game afterwards. He began to switch over to coaching, leading the Scranton Miners (not sure what years) and the Barons. Eventually he took the head coaching job at Elk Lake HS, and had two state titles there.
Just three months after leading Elk Lake to their second state title in March of 1977, Wallace died of cancer.
He had at least one son (Jim) and one daughter (JoEllen).

Brother of fellow pro player Bob Fitzgerald.
Born to Richard and Emma Fitzgerald, From Queens, Dick went to Fordham and then into the military. He played professionally in the ABL until joining the Toronto Huskies in the BAA. When head coach and player Ed Sadowski quit the team, Lew Hayman coached a game before Fitzgerald took over on an interim basis. The Huskies won two of the three games Fitzgerald coached, before former Major League Baseball player Red Rolfe was named the head coach, which he held for the remainder of the season.
Fitzgerald died at the young age of 47, but I cannot find the circumstances behind this premature death.
