A basketball star at SE Louisiana, Cole, from Pine Prairie, Louisiana, signed with the Baltimore Bullets in June of 1949. He would join Bridgeport in December of 1949 and average around 2.0 points per game before being let go in February. Cole served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Wat and after being discharged, he attended LSU, earning a Masters Degree in Kinesiology. He would take over his father-in-law's office supply business and ran it for 40 years before retiring.

Cole married Lois Trahan in 1955 and they had six sons and three daughters,
