After graduating from Classen HS in Oklahoma City, Darcey went on to Oklahoma A&M (now known as Oklahoma State University) and after graduating, played one season with the Milwaukee Hawks in the NBA. Darcey returned to Oklahoma to go into the insurance business and raise a family. Darcey died of cancer in 2009.Pete married Pat in 1956 and they had eight children.
