The 6'7 Henriksen played for the Baltimore Bullets after leaving Cal, averaging 8.4 PPG in his rookie season as the Bullets' center. He quit basketball after that season to go to Stanford to work on his doctorate. He earned his Ph.D. from Stanford in geology, and was working in Oklahoma when he was recruited to rejoin the Bullets. The Bullets disbanded on November 27, 1954, and Henriksen was selected by the Rochester Royals in the dispersal draft. When the season ended, Henriksen left the NBA for good.
Don married Marilyn Martin in 1955.
