1947-48 EBL-CT

The Eastern League headed into the new season with a format change. Instead of two divisions, they went with 8 teams in a single standing. Each team had a modest 14-game schedule with a home-and-away game against each team. The Bridgeport Lenox left the league in the off-season, and Stamford was awarded a new franchise, the Stamford Celtics. The Danbury Fedoras also joined the league.

The defending champions, the Bristol Tramps, ran away with the regular-season title, losing only one game and finishing five games ahead of Wallingford, Stamford and Bridgeport, all of whom finished 8-6. The Naugatuck Zephyrs, who lost all 18 league games last year, were marginally better, with their only victory coming at the expense of Torrington on December 14, 1947.

Bristol swept their way through the playoffs, defeating Wallingford for their second-straight title. Bridgeport's Vince Verdeschi was named the league MVP.
