Born in Manchester, Connecticut, to Albert and Ida Yost. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War 2, and would become the most prominent sports figure in Manchester. Not only did he many sports, he would become a referee, umpire, official, sportswriter and fan. He helped many other columnists get their start, and was known by virtually the entire town.

He married Adella Wrubel in 1943 and they had two sons.

Despite being highly recruited by colleges out of high school, Kaplan decided to go the professional route instead, playing for the Dux AAU club. This would turn into a very lengthy basketball career in the ABL.

For some reason, his name appears as "Chamberlain" in boxscore of a Kingston-Philly game printed in the Deceember 16, 1938 edition of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Born to William and Irene Walters. After an injury ended his career, Walters moved to Florida, where he coached basketball at Clearwater High School as well as sell insurance. In 1960, he became the City Commissioner of Clearwater.

He was married to Jacqueline and had a son, Kenneth Jr. (b. c.1950), and a daughter, Stephanie Ann (b. c.1951).
