One of two Ed Sadowskis to play in the NBL, Ed played college ball at Seton Hall and after graduation went to play with the Detroit Eagles. He served in the U.S. Army Air Forces in World War 2, and returned to play with Fort Wayne. When the BAA was formed, Sadowki was hired to coach the Toronto Huskies as well as play, but he was let go a month into the season with a 3-9 record. He finished the season playing for the Cleveland franchise. The next season, he joined the Celtics and finished second in the league in scoring. After two seasons with the Warriors and another with the Bullets, he retired from basketball and worked for Cities Service Oil as a labor negotiator. Sadowski died of cancer at the age of 75.
He was married to Charlotte and had two sons, Edward and Bill.
His obituary in the NY Times says he was 73 at the time of his death, as do other basketball encyclopedias (most list him as born in 1917), but census and military records show he was born in 1915, making him 75. I am sticking with the 1915 birth date, even though it makes him an old college student.
